The Forbidden by Beverly Lewis

I didn't realize, when I found this book, that it's actually the second book in a series. I decided to give it a go anyway, figuring I can always backtrack if I really enjoy it.

Here's my take: Nellie and Caleb are very selfish people, in general. I found myself unable to root for them to be together because of this. That makes what is supposed to be the central love story of the book fall flat.

However, I enjoyed the rest of the story. Basically for me the story was about the splitting of the church and the struggle for the families torn apart by the split. I was fascinated by that part and what would happen to these families.

I'm not sure if I'll rush out to read one again, but if another one falls in my lap I'd read it.
